Talking With Allie

Allie loves to talk, but we are just starting to understand what she has to say...

We started this program - Your Baby Can Read - to help Allie learn to read about 2 months ago. It didn't take long for her to show us she could recognize some words before we said them. Clap was her first word - around Easter and she followed it quickly with Dog. Now, she can normally recognize Hi and Arms Up, although like any other child, she shows us she can do them when it is convenient for her. :-) She can't speak yet, so she responds with sign language, which we are also working on at the same time. It's funny to watch her, she seems to run through them as if practicing or talking to herself. Her signs have changed a bit. Dog, for example is patting her leg, but the last week or so she began patting her her chest. I guess she is saying she loves her dog! Hi and Bye are normally rather clear waves, but that is okay if she isn't perfect. We are just looking for communication and this is working. Sometimes I don't speak so clearly either. We actually got this on video - which as been hard to get a condensed version (Mom doesn't know when to turn the recording off) and includes several of her words. I was also able to get a few of her signs on video for you, too. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful week. Our Mommy's day was great and hope yours was, too.

WOW! Fantastic! I've seen the Baby Can Read infommercial. It looks interesting. And appears to work! We are signing a few things with Nathan, too but he does what looks like "All done" for just about everything so far.

Congrats to Allie! What a smart girl! Wow, looks and brains. Need to put her on Nathan's short list for the future. :) Hope your Mother's Day was fantastic.

Dear Allie: You are doings such a great job of talking. We are really proud of you!

Silly Grandpa, until now, didn't know your blog pictures got larger when one clicks on them. We can clearly see that new tooth.

We are glad that your Walk/Run-A-Thon was such a success. You did a good job leading them!

Your new nighty is pretty, and would you believe it, I have one just like it?

Love, Grandpa
