As I learn more and more about Down syndrome, I realize these individuals are really more alike than different. This is also a common phrase used by the National Down Syndrome Congress. I believe it is very fitting. I've attached a video that I think is excellent at discussing Down syndrome and how important inclusion is to those with Down syndrome and those without. In my short time with Allie, I have learned first hand that having her in my life is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know that seems biased since I'm her mother, but I'm confident she will always amaze and touch people and they, too, will feel so blessed to have met her. I pray that communities, schools, places of business all become less afraid of those that are different and more accepting of them. We are further than we were years ago, but we still have a long way to go.

Down Syndrome - More Alike Than Different

My, my, Allie,
You are a lucky girl to have a Mom and Dad like you have. You will make great strides and be a leader in your community. I just watched the videa Mom sent around. It was exciting and well worth the time.

The "We're More Alike Than Different" video is very educational. I wish everyone could see it. The only thing that would have made it better was if your pretty face was in it ... and I'll bet it will be when you get a job!
