Allie is growing!!

Look! You can now see those sweet lips today!!

Baby makes the booties even more cute!

See the sweet baby and her tiny booties? She slept
through this whole picture taking/dress up
experience. She was out like a light and wouldn't
budge to wake up!

Let's just put this in perspective. Her diaper is the
smallest they make and it is TOO large her for her.
It is only slightly bigger than my phone!

Today is Day 12 of our little girls fascinating journey. She is doing fantastic (thanks for asking!). She is 13 1/2 inches long and weighs 2 pounds and 6 ounces!! She is now eating 21 cc's of milk every 3 hours - that is almost 4 1/2 teaspoons. We've added a little bit of formula to her milk to help her add more calories. She is still just as healthy as she can be and active, too!! She loves to kick those legs as many of you have pointed out. She also loves a good body rub. Despite some of the nurses thinking Tim was a bit crazy when he suggested she was trying to flip over as early as a week ago, it has been confirmed by us and by a couple nurses that this little child is a "flipper". If she wants to be on her belly or her back and she isn't, she finds a way. Of course being only 2.6 pounds probably makes it easier for her than for us. The body pillow also plays a role, but I believe she is just brillant.

We had a lot of fun the other day putting cute little booties on her and wrapping her in a Winnie the Pooh blanket. The nurses in the NICU are fabulous and love to take care of Ms. Allie. She really doesn't give them any trouble and seems to just love to be ooh'd and ahh'd over. After we left one night, her nurse, Kristi, redid her "condo" for us and gave her the lovely pink blanket and decorated Pooh Bear, too. Seems Allie didn't like to keep the booties on, but Pooh has been very cooperative.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm glad you all seem to be enjoying these updates. I love to talk about my little girl and as I recouperate, I'll be able to do that more often!

Have a terrific weekend! ~ from all of us!

Happy Thanksgiving from Allie

Almost forgot to give you a video! Here is one from Allie's first Thanksgiving.
She hopes you all had a great Turkey Day!

Love,

All of us!

They made me go home!

Allie holds Daddy's Wedding Ring.

Allie is trying to figure out what a Mommy is

This is the smallest Premie hat she has and it is
too big. This was part of a gift from many friends
at my work.

Mommy is already brushing Allie's pretty hair.

Of all the nerve... baby has to stay and Mommy had to go home. Luckily, I can visit my angel anytime I want. Funny thing is that as busy as life was in the hospital, it has been busier at home! What do you Mom's do when they actually let you take the baby home and you have other children as well? I'm amazed at you!

I'm doing well, but more importantly, Allie is doing fantastic! She is keeping all her food down and has increased the amount of food she takes by 6x what she was eating a week ago. Granted, a week ago it was 1/2 of a teaspoon every 3 hours so increasing was all she could do. She now takes 4 teaspoons every 3 hours!!

Allie has been such a delight. We are able to visit her nearly whenever we want and although we only get to hold her for about 10 minutes a day (if her temperature is good), we still know how blessed we are to have her here with us. Our goal now is to fatten this baby up so she can come home with us. I wish you all could see her. I'm told that she looks big in the pictures, but when you see her in person, she is so much smaller. She is very petite. The diapers she wears are Extra Small Premies, but as you can tell they are too big. They don't make a smaller size, though.

More pictures and news on Allie to follow... hopefully at a quicker pace than this past week!

Sincerely,

Sandy - A/K/A the New Mommy

Allie Celebrates Her 1st Thanksgiving!

There is nothing better than a nap after a big Thanksgiving breakfast.

Allie is doing great this morning. Yesterday she moved on up in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). She now has what we refer to as her "Condo". This is a "promotion" for her. She will be in this new home for awhile. She is also getting the "simulated beach" treatment. She has a slight amount of jaundice, which is very common especially in someone as pretty as she is...oops... I mean as young. :-)

Have a great Thanksgiving from Allie and her Mommy and Daddy. And her puppy dog, Nicky. Allie has asked where that barky dog is. But, he can't visit ... yet.
Love you all from the Lovell's!

Day Two with Allie

Hello everyone! Quick message before Baby Duties call. Tuesday was Allie's second day with us and boy was it fun. We are learning a lot about her and I was even able to hold her! She is so thrilling to us. She still does some acrobatic activities, but has not resumed her feet over her head position like in the ultrasound. I guess giving her more room has helped in that manner. She loves to kick and squirm around. She is rather ticklish, too. Here are a few pictures to share with you.

Allie Lovell is Born!

Allison Bailey Lovell was born on November 19th at 6:34pm. She weighed 2 pounds and 5 ounces. She is 13 inches long! Allie will be in NICU for a while until she grows a bit more. The nurses all love her and say she is a sweetheart, although a bit feisty (Allie... the tubes must stay in your body they tell her.).
Thanks for your prayers and support. Keep watching this page... more videos and photos to follow as you might have guessed!!

Signed,
The New Mommy and Daddy
